Daffodil Day 2009

Friday March 20th is Daffodil Day, the main fundraising event of the Irish Cancer Society. The Irish Cancer Society needs your help selling daffodils to raise funds for its free nationwide nursing care services. Please consider giving a few hours of your valuable time.

Daffodil Day has been held annually since 1988 and is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Irish Cancer Society. The Irish Cancer Society is Ireland’s largest cancer charity and we are the country’s largest voluntary funder of cancer research.

Did you know?

  • 25,000 people will be diagnosed with cancer in Ireland each year and 8,500 will die from cancer
  • One in three people in Ireland will be affected by cancer at some point in their life.
  • Just one box of daffodils covers the cost of one night of nursing.
  • We provided over 5,700 nights of care to 1,600 families in 2008. This is a 10% increase on the number of nights and people cared for in 2007.
