Capital Limerick Event
“Limerick has an opportunity to create an environment where people want to live and work, and where employers want to create jobs”
An amazing afternoon was hosted last Friday 3rd November in the luxurious 5* Hotel The Intercontinental, Ballsbridge, Dublin by the voluntary organisation Capital Limerick. The afternoon discussion was entitled – “Unlocking Regional Growth”
Capital Limerick was started in 2016 by solicitor Clair Hayes who believes that Limerick has a ""Golden Opportunity to unlock regional growth""
The room was teeming with 250 professional people living in Dublin and Limerick promoting the fact that Limerick and the Mid-West IS the place to set up businesses and continue economic growth in Ireland. We were in the company of the former president of the European Parliament – Pat Cox, Economist – Jim Power, NewsWhip CEO – Paul Quigley, RTE Correspondent – Joe Little and Ireland's Ladies Rugby – Niamh Briggs hosted and chaired by Cathy Halloran.
Throughout the afternoon we heard from each panelist about the potential positives of post Brexit for companies and business moving to the Mid-West. Positives in the region include the accessibility through Shannon Airport, amazing office space, affordability in housing compared to other parts of the country and of course availability of top class talent.
It was pointed out by Jim Power that Limerick ticks many of the necessary boxes for further growth with third level education and international air connectivity
continuing to be vital.
I myself, have only been living in Limerick for 4 years but the progress made in that time through business expansions and new businesses augurs well for the future. .
I personally look forward to next years Capital Limerick event – a very interesting afternoon was had by all!
