Guest Blog: My recruitment journey with La Crème
After graduating from a Sport Science & Health degree in the summer of 2013, I really wasn’t sure what path to go down for a job, never mind a career. I certainly wasn’t alone as a graduate feeling like this, it is a confusing place to be.
I jumped between several jobs over the past 2 and a half years since graduating, working predominantly in the language school sector as an activity leader and then progressing into student support with a focus on activity coordination for students and staff. As enjoyable as this was, I knew it wasn’t the long term role for me. I also had a short stint working as a sales and membership consultant in a gym, finally doing something somewhat related to my degree – but sales just wasn’t the right fit for me.
I was lucky enough to be offered a fabulous corporate reception role with a leading pharmaceutical company
It was then that I met with Kerri, a wonderful recruitment consultant from La Crème/Morgan McKinley, just before Christmas 2015. I had met with other recruiters before getting in touch with La Crème, but I found that not one of them was as helpful and as genuinely concerned with finding the right role for me as they were in La Crème.
I had such a lovely experience meeting with Kerri that morning, and she took on board what I wanted out of a job and what I wanted to avoid. It was wonderful to have a recruitment consultant really listen to what I would like to do most and match me with the most suitable roles. Within no time at all after Christmas, interviews were set up with companies I only dreamt of working with. It was third time lucky for me and Kerri – on my third interview that Kerri arranged for me, I was lucky enough to be offered a fabulous corporate reception role with a leading pharmaceutical company and I haven’t looked back since. I can’t thank Kerri enough for helping me prepare for this interview and for pointing me in the direction of such a great company to work with.
I can’t thank La Crème enough for giving me the opportunity to find what feels like the perfect job for me
I started my current role here in February and I’ve honestly never enjoyed a job more. I settled into my role here what felt like overnight, thanks to the warm welcome I received from my colleagues. Kerri told me no word of a lie when she said I would be a perfect fit for it. I am here just short of 3 months now and they have been the most enjoyable months I have worked so far.
I can’t thank La Crème enough for giving me the opportunity to find what feels like the perfect job for me. I’ve never been happier in a job, which is saying a lot as I’m normally a smiley person anyway. For any job seekers out there, if you are a graduate still unsure of what to do or anyone who is looking for a change from their current job, I would recommend calling La Crème and setting up a meeting with one of their amazing consultants for a chat. They will take on board everything you are looking for and everything you want to avoid and point you in the direction of what will hopefully be the job you wake up on a Monday morning with a smile on your face for.
