It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!!
When is it a good time to think about making a move to your next role?
Is it too early to mention the C word? Not for me as I love it. However in the recruitment world it can be an uncertain time of year. Company’s budgets are running out for this year and they have not confirmed the budget for next year. Sometimes leaving recruitment requirements in limbo.
Likewise for candidates you have the dilemma do I make a career change now or do I wait until the New Year. But we all know the old saying “why put off until tomorrow what you can do today?” If you feel you are ready for a change in career and you know deep down you want to make a move, start your search NOW. Yes we are just a few short weeks away from Christmas but there is no need to put your plans on hold.
Start doing your research:
1. What roles are currently being advertised within your skill set?
2. Are you open to relocation should you be looking further afield?
3. What industry are you in? Are they advertising and if not who are and would you consider a complete change?
Make sure your CV is totally up to date. When reviewing job advertisements ensure that anything they are looking for in the job specification, if you have done it that it is clearly detailed on your CV. All your information should be in clear and concise bullet points.
We may be close to the Christmas holidays and company shut downs, but there are still companies holding interviews and meeting with possible new employees so the decision can be made and a new starter ready to go straight away in the New Year.
