The conversion of temp to perm positions have continued to increase due to growth within businesses. As it is holiday season, there have been an influx of requests for temporary receptionists. The senior end of the market is still buoyant as there is continued demand for senior office support professionals of a high calibre and skillset. Although there are plenty of  temp and office support positions on the market, there seems to be a shortage of applicants across all desks and specialist areas due to an incorrect perception by job seekers that the employment market within these areas is quiet during the summer months. Due to this shortage of talent, employers are having to hire candidates on working holiday visas into permanent roles via sponsorship, in particular for the roles of Senior Admin and in Order Management, both within the Tech sector and in the Dublin region.

In Cork, administrators that have technical skills are in high demand, such as those equipped with SAP and Excel. Graduates of various disciplines are needed for open positions. In terms of temping, companies are mainly looking for the correct personality and company fit among professionals as opposed to any specific skills and qualifications. Hiring managers are willing to invest in relevant training if a professional appears to be a good fit for an organisation.

Within the South East, in terms of public and private hospitals, employees such as clerical staff require Garda vetting and naturally enough, experience within the medical industry is always a plus. There are many bilingual roles available so another language is a plus, especially if one is fluent in a particular language or a native speaker. Strong administrative and communication skills are also an ongoing requirement across all disciplines and sectors.
