Job search at Christmas

Tis the season for festive cheer and merriment but that doesn’t mean you won’t find your next career move in time for Christmas.

During the run up to Christmas and the New Year many people, both in employment and seeking employment take time off. Those in employment take the Christmas as an opportunity to have a well-deserved break, whilst those seeking new employment opportunities often take a break from their job search under the impression employers won’t be hiring until the New Year.

This simply isn’t the case!

If you are looking to start the new year in a new role, now’s the time to make it a reality. A reason why many employers may be looking to recruit around this time of year is to ensure they don’t miss out on their designated headcount for the year ahead in a “use it or lose it” approach to the remainder of this year's budget.

Many organisations often plan to start new projects at the beginning of the year and will be looking to hire new employees now who will be ready to start in the New Year to work on their upcoming projects and assignments. Making this the time to start the process, ready for the New Year.

Both those searching for new opportunities and companies alike can be influenced by the New Year resolution ideology, making this time of year pivotal for making the decision to seek out a new direction. It’s a time for review and reflection. Many companies will be assessing the year passed and be able to objectively pinpoint areas where growth and development have led to a need for new hires.

Likewise, many people will be motivated by the feeling of a New Year as a new start and will be keen to secure a new role, if you are interested in finding your new job, our team of consultants at La Crème are on hand to give you advice and support throughout the entire recruitment process.
